This tour departs by kayak from south Marco Island Florida during the best tidal times and travels into the Ten Thousand Islands National Wildlife Refuge. We have researched ever-changing tidal times and have designed this kayak tour to provide the best opportunities for: an amazing shelling and marine life adventure. As your naturalist guide leads you at a comfortable kayaking pace to a pristine remote island, you will enjoy opportunities to see and learn about a host of marine life from the waters surface. On the island, enjoy a vast exposed ocean floor with many calm tide pools to explore. There will be seashells and living marine life everywhere. (Visit us online for a list seashells). Have fun learning: interesting facts, what shells are keepers and where to find shells! Aquatic life opportunities to encounter may include: colorful sponges, corals, starfish, living seashells, sea urchins, sand dollars, comb jellies, sea beans, octopus, dolphins, manatees, fish, & tropical birds!

The Ten Thousand Islands National Wildlife Refuge (NWR) is actually located off the coast of southern Marco Island, FL. Your tour will begin in Marco Island, FL and will return to this same location in Marco Island, FL (see more details above). Kayaking distance is approximately 1.5 miles which is just the right amount for beginner level kayaking. When you arrive for your tour, our certified coastal naturalist guides will meet you out front to help you prepare for your fun kayak adventure. See your email within 12 hours after booking for directions to your tour and for the start time of your tour. (Start times change everyday because, they are based on the tide. You can visit our online booking calendar to view our start times in advance. We are unable to list different daily start times here).

Required forms: each participant will be required to sign our participant agreement release & acknowledgement of risk and our equipment agreement waiver & release of liability forms onsite prior to participating in any activities. (Please contact us if you need these forms in advance or if you have any questions regarding these forms. They are common and are required for water sports activities. Even though, this is a relatively safe activity, please acknowledge this is an at your own risk activity where you and your minor will be kayaking in brackish & saltwater to view wildlife which can be unpredictable).
ALL MINORS MUST have a parent or legal guardian sign their participant agreement release & acknowledgement of risk and our equipment agreement waiver & release of liability forms. This is required for any minor to participate in any of our activities. (Please contact us if you need these forms in advance for a parent to sign).
All minors must be accompanied by an adult.
Minors ages 7-13 are allowed to paddle in a tandem, but must have an adult in the same kayak with them.
Minors ages 4-6 ride in the middle plastic molded seat near their parent when 2 seats are booked in a tandem. There is plenty of room for comfort and to extend your legs.
Kayak tours are designed for easy/beginner level (3-3.5 hours and approximately 1.5 miles round trip of kayaking) or intermediate level (5-5.5 hours and approximately 5 miles round trip of kayaking) and are designed to travel with the tides. However, you should decide if you're in sufficient health to participate in this activity. At times currents and winds can change direction requiring additional effort. All participants that ride in a paddling seat must be physically fit, able and willing to paddle. Otherwise, they can ride in the center seat with two other paddlers in the kayak, so long as weight requirements are met.
No alcohol permitted. Cannot be under the influence of alcohol or illicit drugs.
Subject to favorable weather conditions. If canceled due to poor weather, you will be given the option of an alternative date or full refund.
Handmade seashell jewelry contains small parts and is a potential choking hazard. Seashell jewelry is only intended for and only hand crafted for persons 12 years of age and older.
Free 10 digital photos are taken during your tour for your group and are shared easily with you via google drive within 24-48 hours excluding holidays.
All participants weights MUST be advised at time of booking. Weight Limits cannot exceed the following: single seat kayak weight limit is 350 lbs, tandem weight limit is 250 lbs per participant or a combined weight of 500 lbs or less.
All participants must wear a lifejacket (PFD) when kayaking.
Recommended items to bring on your tour includes: Water shoes or Aqua Socks are Required for this Tour, Polarized sunglasses, Water resistant sunscreen lotion 50 SPF or greater, Sun shielding hat, Any personal items you will need and can't be without, Insect repellent, A zip lock baggie to place any items you want to prevent from getting wet (There is a sealed storage compartment to store items, often times it stays dry, however items can and may still get wet inside the compartment), Comfortable clothing such as swimwear or shorts that you don't mind getting wet, Towel, Use the restroom before arrival (since we pick hot spots to see wildlife, some areas may not have bathrooms onsite), Sufficient bottled water and snacks for a two and a half hour kayak tour, A Happy Disposition & Smiles for Pics & Videos of your Great Kayak Adventure (pics & videos are a free service we provide. if you do not want your pic taken just simply let us know).
Pricing is per seat. Seats will be in tandem kayaks, Single kayak seats will be made available for single bookings and the extra person that is in your group when you book an odd number of seats.
Near public transportation
PARKING: This is a specialized tour into the 10,000 Islands. The county has new 2021 regulations for everyone regarding access/parking into this area. Since, we hold a commercial permit and are a licensed Collier County business, we have access to this location to provide tours so, you can experience this wonderful adventure. It is HIGHLY RECOMMENDED to shuttle or taxi/uber etc. to your tour. Parking is NOT guaranteed and is extremely limited to only a dozen spots at any of the 10,000 Islands launch sites per new 2021 Collier County rules. Driving may result in: no parking found or parking offsite which would result in walking to your tour from there. If you drive, please do not park in non parking areas or “boat trailer only” parking spots as the county is enforcing parking fees/fines. Parking fees/fines that you may incur are not included in this tour. If you choose to drive: it is advisable to leave early to secure one of the dozen non-trailer parking spots in advance but, please keep in mind a spot may never become available. Certain days of the week may yield different parking circumstances. We do not provide a shuttle or transportation service to your tour. Be sure to plan in advance for your arrival. No shows will not receive a refund for their tour. Full refunds are issued if your tour is cancelled 24 hours in advance. Please travel safely.

This tour was fun and everything it said it would be. The guides were very informative about the sea life and the islands. The bracelet is awesome . I could see doing this tour again.

Laurie and Mike were very professional and informative. They really were enthusiastic about sharing the knowledge of all the sea life. We even saw a dolphin pod! We saved life sea stars and handle sea hares.

Mike and Laurie are phenomenal guides. They instructed us on kayak paddling and this activity is great for all ages. We kayaked to two places each with plentiful shells and sea life. Mike is a wildlife biologist by education and is full of knowledge for whatever you find. This is the 2nd time I have done this activity and I would go again, it’s that much fun. The bracelet made by Laurie with the shell you find is a great keepsake of the day.

This was by far the best kayaking experience I have had in Florida. We saw dolphins and an abundance of shell creatures. The guides were very knowledgeable about the wildlife and area. The weather was perfect and so was the time in and out of the kayak. I will definitely do this again.

Amazing trip! Laura and Mike were great, very knowledgeable about the area, really shared their enthusiasm and love for the environment. We found lots of shells and had a great experience, Would definitely recommend this trip.

Laura was absolutely amazing, Michael knew all of the facts about the sea. A perfect kayak tour for beginners as well as experts. I would definitely do this again. We saw dolphins 5 feet away and took home plenty of sea shells!!! Thank u Laura and Michael.

We LOVED this experience. Mike and Laura were fantastic - they were great to work with, they had so much knowledge of the sea life and area, and they made sure everything was seamless! We saw jellyfish, sea stars, sea sponges, etc, and learned so much. We found so many cool shells - ones I've never seen before - and we each brought home a bag full! It was also just super cool to be walking on and exploring the sea floor at such low tides, and although we were just a mile or so offshore, it seemed so isolated. Super cool experience. My daughters LOVED all the sand dollars! My brother who lives in FL came with us, and he thought it would be totally cheesy, but he couldn't stop talking about what an awesome adventure it was! Unfortunately, we did not see any dolphins, but that's just how it goes! Small suggestion - handing out better quality bags for holding the shells.

As others have commented before me, this is a great fun and educational activity with really great hosts/guides. I’ve gone shelling before, but it’s so much more fun and interesting when you actually know a little bit about what you’re finding and looking at. Mike and Laura were friendly, patient, and engaging guides who are clearly very knowledgeable about marine biology and ecology. We had adults and kids of all ages in our group this morning and everyone had a great time. I would highly recommend this to anyone!

By far the best tour I have been on! Both of our guides, Mike and Laura, were very knowledgeable about marine life and they were able to tell us so much about the creatures on the beautiful islands we visited. We found so many cool shells and they made us bracelets on the beach. My sisters and I had lots of fun, I would recommend it to everyone!

We had a wonderful shelling kayak experience with Laura and Mike. They were very knowledgeable and very nice. We got awesome shells, like two 12" horse conchs and a lot of right-handed whelks. We are definitely thinking about coming back in the future :-)
