Way too many people are booked for every tour. We probably had 50+ people in our group. The guide was good but we missed half of what he said because there were so many people we could not always get close enough to him to hear him. When he walked from place to place, we were strung out for a whole block. Plus doing this in a crowded city with LOTS of street noise and other people and even street musicians with loud speakers drowning out the guide. Groups should limited to 10 people max to make it really worthwhile.

The costumed guide was often in character. The cemetery was the most memorable part to me. Unfortunately it was cold and windy on the tour and there were many other tours at the same time which limited time and visibility at certain talking points

Our guide, John Hancock, was fantastic! Nice way to see major sites plus have enough information to go independently also after the tour.

This was a great tour with a wonderful tour guide, John Hancock. So much good information about the history of Boston. In full character, John Hancock presented all of it in a fun and relaxed way.

Our guide was very engaging and informative. We could hear her even with being part of a big group and kept everyone on track while walking

When arrived at the Boston Common, I showed the guide my ticket on my phone and he seemed bewildered. He pointed me to another guide who had already started her tour and said we must be in that group. Her group was very large and she was not mic’d so we could hardly hear a word she said. Adding to the frustration was the incessant nearby construction equipment noise which helped to drown her out even more. At the end of her first speech, she asked to see my ticket and again, she looked perplexed and said we’d settle up at the end. By the second stop, we just gave up trying to hear her and left the tour. I downloaded a self/guided tour and we did it on our own. That was $50 down the drain for me. BTW, we did notice other guides were mic’d so I don’t understand why “ours” wasn’t. I’d recommend sparing yourself the frustration and using a self guided approach.

Our group was very large and our guide did not have a microphone so thru the whole tour we could not hear anything he was saying. There was also the noise from the street which also made it hard to hear him. I am sure he was a very good guide but I would not recommend going on the tour.
